A fiscal union for the euro: lessons from federal states (2011:10epa)

The European Sovereign Debt Crisis has dominated the EU Member States’ agenda since May 2010. One of the main issues that EU policy makers need to address is the structure of a future fiscal framework. In this publication, Professor Lars Jonung analyses the issue by turning to the fiscal history of four federal states: Argentina, Brazil, Canada and the United States.

The Euro - What´s in it for me? An Economic Analysis of the Swedish Euro Referendum 2003 (2007:2)

The Swedish referendum on the euro in 2003 is an exceptional event for researchers of monetary unions and of European economic integration. Voters chose between maintaining the domestic currency, the krona, and replacing it with the euro, the common currency of the European Union. The referendum revealed significant dividing lines between Yes- and No-voters in areas such as income, education, sex, employment, geographical location and industrial structure.
