The 2007 German EU Presidency: A Midterm Report

Print E-mail

Authors: Sebastian Kurpas and Henning Riecke

This Report gives a detailed insight into the organisational structures of the German Presidency. It starts with a general part describing German motivation for European integration, the developments since the German unification, public opinion on European integration and the positions of important political players in Germany.

In its main part the report provides a comprehensive overview of the German Presidency’s aims in the various policy areas. The Presidency has focused on the Constitutional Treaty and common strategies to combat climate changes. The authors make a preliminary assessment of the achievements at the beginning of May 2007.

The report was presented at the seminar The German Presidency and is a part of the research project Det roterande ordförandeskapet.
