In this report an analysis is given on the changes introduced by the Treaty of Nice relating to the court system of the EU.

Furthermore, the authors discuss the changes proposed by the Convention on the Future of Europe relating to the competences of the courts. The report should be seen as a contribution to the ongoing debate on how the court system of the EU should be designed.

The report was presented at the seminar The Future Court System of the EU and is a part of the research project Strategy 2004.
