11 May The Lisbon Treaty and the Social Deficit in the EU

The debate on the social deficit in the EU, has received renewed interest through recent judgements by the Court of Justice of the European Union in cases such as Laval and Rüffert. At this seminar, a new European Policy Analysis will be presented, raising the issue whether the EU will become more “social” thanks to the new treaty. The analysis deals with the changes of social character that are a result of the Lisbon treaty and discusses whether these changes may help reduce the social deficit in the EU.
