EU Budget Reform - Insights from Theory
Date: 14 April 2009 in Stockholm
The current EU budget review creates fundamental questions about what the EU is and should do. The budget review aims to create a budget better tailored to meet future challenges.
The seminar presented the report Fiscal Federalism, subsidiarity and the EU Budget Review, written by Iain Begg. The report is part of the research project, the EU budget.
In the report, Professor Iain Begg presented an innovative analysis in which he examines the situations in which the subsidiarity principle can be applied in the discussion on the future EU budget. The report makes an important contribution to the debate on how financial resources should be allocated among different levels in the EU.
