Trade Effects of European Integration

Date: 21 October 2005

How is world trade affected by the European integration process? Is there a trade diversion that is to the disadvantage of countries bordering on the Union? The report European Integration and Trade Diversion: Yeats revisited was presented at the seminar which discusses these issues. The authors conclude that there was indeed trade diversion in the early stages of the Communities, but no such effects are discernible in recent years.
