Utrikespolitiska utmaningar för Obama
Date: 29 January 2009 in Stockholm
The new U.S. administration will inherit a number of large and persistent challenges from President Bush, including the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the risk of a nuclear-armed Iran, a re-awakening of Russia and an increasingly tight timetable of negotiations on a new Climate Convention. Europe has an important role to play as a possible future ally, but this requires the U.S. to repair its international position deteriorated significantly during Bush's presidency.
What shape will Obama's national security team get? How will the American foreign policy vision turn out during Obama? How will the Obama administration deal with the foreign policy challenges it faces?
The seminar presented the analysis Foreign Policy Challenges for the Obama administration by John K. Glenn. The analysis is part of the research project the EU as a global player.
