On 30 September 2010 the Swedish Institute for European Policy Studies (SIEPS) will arrange a seminar in Brussels on circular migration, where Professor Per Lundborg, Stockholm University, presents his report Immigration Policy for Circular Migration. One reason for the EU to consider a circular migration policy, is the fear that developing countries will experience "brain drain" when high-skilled workers emigrate to the EU. In his report, Professor Lundborg examines amongst other things to which extent "brain drain" is a problem for the sending countries.

Välkommen till ett seminarium som utvärderar det svenska EU-ordförandeskapet andra halvåret 2009, i samband med att SNS presenterar en ny bok med titeln I Europas tjänst.

Under den allvarligaste globala ekonomiska krisen sedan 1930-talet föll det på Sveriges lott att ta över ordförandeklubban i EU. Det innebar bland annat att organisera cirka 2 000 möten på alla tänkbara politiska nivåer och i viss utsträckning sätta dagordningen inom en rad olika områden.

Några av de frågor som ställs under seminariet är: Var det svenska ordförandeskapet framgångsrikt? Inom vilka områden lyckades man komma till bra beslut? I vilken utsträckning realiserades svenska intressen? Därutöver kommer också själva ordförandeinstitutionen att diskuteras.
