EU Regional Policy

Timeframe: Completed
Project Manager: Jonas Eriksson

The least developed areas in the Union today are primarily located in the Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC). The needs of these regions differ from the needs of the areas that have received support prior to the most recent enlargement.

Given the large share of the EU budget that is spent on structural- and cohesion policy and the changes we see before us, regionally as well as globally, it is vital that the policy is adapted to the new circumstances. SIEPS will continue to conduct research on EU regional policy, with a focus on new Member States.
