The Purse of the European Union: Setting Priorities for the Future (2008:1op)
SIEPS’ annual conference 2007 was held on the theme The Purse of the European Union: Setting Priorities for the Future. The conference was arranged in the light of the EU budget review process that was launched in September 2007 and which is expected to be concluded in 2008-2009.
Professor Iain Begg focused on EU expenditure, while Professor André Sapir covered the entire spectrum and analysed expenditure and revenue, as well as effectiveness in spending. This volume contains transcripts of their speeches along with an introduction by Jonas Eriksson, SIEPS, that outlines the challenges ahead and discusses the link between the EU’s budget and economic theory.
The report was presented at the seminar The Purse of the European Union: Setting Priorities for the Future and is a part of the research project The EU Budget.
