The German Presidency
Date: 31 May 2007 in Stockholm, Sweden
The current German pre-sidency has focused on the Constitutional Treaty. The European Council meeting in June will most likely indicate some directions for the constitutional reform of the EU.
The summit in March was mainly concerned with common strategies to combat climate change. The Presidency has also organised the celebrations of EU:s 50th birthday, advanced the agenda in the area of Justice and Home affairs and handled the common foreign and security policies. Besides evaluating the German Presidency, the seminar was devoted to analysing the future of the Constitutional Treaty.
SIEPS bi-annually publishes a report concerning the incumbent Presidency of the EU and at this seminar the report The 2007 German EU Presidency: A Midterm Report by Sebastian Kurpas and Henning Riecke was presented. The report is a part of the research project The EU Presidencies.
