Industrial Structure and Industry Location in an Enlarged Europe (2003:19)

Författare: Ekholm Karolina

The purpose of the report is to examine how the EU enlargement in 2004 affects industrial structures and industry location. Even though the focus is on Sweden, effects on the European level are also scrutinised.

It is likely that both trade and investments will increase as a consequence of enlargement.

The report discusses the effect this will have on variables such as employment, wages, immigration, specialisation patterns and technological diffusion. Regional policy and institutional competition are also discussed in the light of enlargement.

The report was presented at the seminar Industry Location in an Enlarged Europe and is a part of the research project Effects of the Enlargement of the European Union on Industry.
